Foreign Secretary William Hague visits the Netherlands

British Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, the Rt Hon William Hague MP, visited The Netherlands on Monday 9 July for talks with Dutch Foreign Minister, Mr Uri Rosenthal.

Following a bilateral meeting with Mr Rosenthal, Mr Hague gave a speech at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague on ‘Diplomatic Excellence in the 21st Century’. 

One of the key points of the Foreign Secretary’s speech was that modern diplomacy should be able to meet the needs of a constantly changing environment.

During the second part of his visit, Foreign Secretary gave a speech on ‘International law and justice in a networked world’ to members of the legal, political and diplomatic communities in The Hague.

Reflecting on Anglo-Dutch cooperation, Mr Hague said: "Relations between the UK and the Netherlands have rarely been better".
