On holiday in the United Kingdom and your passport or identity card has been lost or stolen?

When your passport or identity card is lost or stolen while you are on holiday in the UK you are advised to report this to the police, also for insurance purposes. Inform the embassy or a consulate by telephone or email as soon as possible. If you need to travel urgently you can submit an application for an emergency travel document (on workdays).  Your personal data will have to be checked with the issuing authority if the passport or identity card that was lost or stolen was not issued by the Dutch embassy in London. This means that it will not always be possible to issue the emergency travel document on the day of the application.

The following documents have to be submitted when applying for an emergency travel document:
  1. an application form  - see forms
  2. a declaration of loss form (C2 form) - see forms
  3. if available: a previous, invalidated passport or identity card
  4. two passport photographs
  5. payment in cash - check fees here
  6. extra in case of an application for a minor (<18):
    1. written consent given by the parents - see forms
    2. photocopies of passports parents

Living in the UK and your passport or identity card has been lost or stolen?

When your passport is lost or stolen you should make an appointment with the passport department of the embassy or a Netherlands consulate for an application for a new passport or identity card. You will have to submit all the documents that are required for a passport or identity card renewal plus a C2 form (declaration of lost/stolen document). Processing the application may take longer than a regular renewal application.

For insurance purposes you are advised to report the stolen or lost document to the police. Passports and identity cards that have been lost or stolen are registered to prevent fraud and misuse. The passport or identity card should therefore not be used if it is later recovered. Please send it to the Embassy, consulate, 'gemeente' or Dutch border control as soon as possible.
