Sport and Pop Culture

The Netherlands and Britain share a particularly overlapping and complementary youth culture. Successful British singers and bands such as Leona Lewis and Take That are almost always equally popular in the Netherlands, and in return some Dutch musicians such as the DJs Ti£sto and Armin van Buuren are hugely popular in the United Kingdom market.
The British and Dutch share a national obsession with football. Dutch and British football fans have a reputation and an association all of their own, but their shared passion is quite different from the position of football in other countries' sporting cultures. Many Dutch footballers make the move to British clubs, often playing in the Premiership, and in the event of either country not succeeding in the World Cup, for example, the Dutch and British fans are usually prepared to support each other's team!
