Flowers, Bulbs and Arable Exports

The Netherlands is a prolific manufacter and exporter of its iconic tulips and other flowers, but also produces a significant proportion of southern England's fruit and vegetables. Most florists and wholesale flower retailers are stocked with bulbs and blooms produced in and imported from Holland. In the supermarket, British shoppers are now very familiar with the "Holland" label on fruit and vegetables, where many of these products such as onions, carrots and strawberries are grown.
